Climate Change

“Mom, why are you throwing the packet of chips by the roadside!" "How much of a difference does it make? The roadside is already littered,” she replied instantly.

I feel that sustainability and the health of the planet is no joke. I want small but effective steps towards creating a society that helps planet Earth. Why, you may ask! Well you probably have heard the word “climate change”. Climate change defined in simple terms is the earth’s temperature rising. This change occurs because of the burning of fossil fuels. Climate change harms the environment in many significant ways like extreme weathers, droughts, pest propagation and it has created a major impact on marine life and arctic life. Lives of animals like polar bears, cows and tigers are reducing in number day by day thanks to global warming

Building a more eco-conscious society requires a collective effort from individuals, businesses, and governments. By adopting environmentally-friendly practices, supporting sustainable agriculture and conservation efforts, and promoting education and awareness, we can reduce our impact on the planet and create a more sustainable future.

Some individual efforts you can make to lead a more eco conscious life would be as follow-

  1. One of the easiest ways to become more eco-conscious is by adopting the 3 R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle. We can reduce our waste by consuming less, reusing items as much as possible, and recycling what we can't use. By reducing the amount of waste generated, we can preserve natural resources.

  2. Fossil fuels are one of the primary causes of climate change. By switching to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power, we can reduce our carbon emissions.

  3. Transportation is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Choosing to walk, bike, or take public transportation can reduce our carbon footprint. Electric vehicles are also a great alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars.

  4. By practicing water conservation, we can reduce the amount of water we waste and preserve this vital resource. Simple actions such as taking shorter showers, fixing leaky faucets, and watering plants with collected rainwater can all make a difference.
